Abstract

The goal of this thesis is to develop a directcontroller for the Control Systems Research Laboratorythat can be easily programmed and debugged so that anew control algorithm can be readily implemented. Thiscontroller should also have many useful features suchas TCP/IP networking, multiuser and multi-taskingsupport. The other objective is to develop a dataacquisition program to use with the laboratoryequipment. We choose an operating system calledRT-LINUX, which is a real-time operating system thathas all above features, and is freely distributed. Webegin with the study of REALTIME SYSTEMS and theinternal working of the RT-LINUX. The thesis includesthe library for proper control laws and a controller,as a case study, using the proposed library. Finally wedemonstrate the actual implementation of the developedcontroller for some laboratory equipment.
